Botox
In the last few years, beauty therapies with Botox have drawn increasing attention. Botox is a toxin (botulinum toxin), that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In small quantities, Botox interrupts nerve impulses to muscles. Small doses of purified botulinum toxin are injected into the facial muscles to block the release of the chemical acetylcholine that would otherwise induce the muscle to contract. Botox paralyzes or weakens the injected muscles beneath the wrinkles thereby smoothing out the skin. The effects last for about 3 to 4 months. Then, the treatment has to be repeated.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Botox cannot be used in cosmetics because it is one of the most dangerous (toxic) natural substances. It should only be administered by experienced and well-trained doctors or nurses by injection. Furthermore, Botox is a protein, a very big molecule that is not able to penetrate from a cream through the stratum corneum into deeper skin layers or even to the muscle tissue. In addition, Botox is very unstable and is active only for a few hours after solubilization.

       Carnosine
Is a di-peptide to prevent the cross-linking and stiffening of collagen by glycation. It reacts very
quickly with reducing sugar molecules andmalondialdehyde. As it counteracts the stiffening
of the skin proteins it relaxes the connectivetissue, smoothes expression lines and rejuvenates.
Carnosine is an endogenous anti-aging factor.

 Silymarin 
      Silymarin from milk thistle and tocopherols are oil soluble antioxidants which prevent pre-mature skin aging. They protect the skin against oxidative stress, an important step in protein glycation.
